We are seeking a full time Cook to work in our Main Campus Kitchen!

Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, grill, broil and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods: to include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events. This includes all areas of food production -Patient, Retail and Catering. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Hospital / Department may identify other responsibilities of the position as needed.

Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week

1st and 2nd shifts - varied hours

5:30am - 8:30pm shift availability required

Every other weekend and every other holiday shifts required

Location: Main Campus Kitchen

Job Duties:

  • Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron, and prepares and cooks food according to instructions.

  • Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.

  • Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other food items for consumption in eating establishments.

  • Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mixingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.

  • Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.

  • Cleans and sanitizes work stations and equipment and must follow all Hospital / Department and regulatory rules and procedures.

  • Complies with all Hospital and department HACCP policies and procedures.

  • Prepare meals for customers requiring special diets.

  • May produce some batch goods using basic cooking techniques for cafe service.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule

  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).

  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds

  • Able to adapt to the needs of the department on short notice.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience

  • Culinary production experience

  • ServSafe Certification
