Associate Lecturer, Global Health

Curry College has temporary need for part-time Faculty to teach in our Health Sciences Department. During Spring semester 2025, this position would teach Global Health (HW 2500). The course instructor will be able to choose to teach the class asynchronously online or in person on Thursdays at from 1:00pm to 3:30pm.

Part-time Faculty are responsible for planning and presenting the material assigned for their courses; establishing specific requirements and informing students of the requirements; grading examinations and papers; submitting grades in a timely fashion; and explaining grades to students. Part-time Faculty are expected to be available to interact electronically with students outside the classroom.

Course description:

HW 2500 - Global Public Health:

Why are some people in different countries around the world healthier than others? This course will explore health and well- being around the world as it has been shaped by individual, community, economic, and political landscapes. Students will learn about a variety of topics including the critical global health concepts, social determinants that shape health and well-being, the effect of poverty, burden of disease globally, global health care systems, human rights, aspects of demography and health, and an introduction to culture and its influence on health.

Pre or Co-requisite: HW 1001 or permission of the instructor.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of a Master's Degree in Public Health or related field (e.g., Public Policy, International Relations) is required for classroom teaching. Prior teaching experience preferred.
