Description

As an Engineering Technician III you will lead and/or provide technical and field support services including planning, organizing and managing project tasks for KLJ client projects.

Essential Functions



  • Contribute as a lead to support the project plan, execution strategy and management of field construction services
  • Construction observation and surveying
  • Assist with design, plans, specifications, reports, maps, schedules, estimates, data collection, and documents and agreements as needed
  • Perform constructability reviews as needed in support of engineering
  • Effectively deal with difficult situations and confrontation both internally and externally
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, prioritize, and monitor client relations
  • Ensure compliance with KLJ safety and quality standards
  • Utilize effective written and oral communication


Responsibilities



  • Coordinate required on-site field resources to meet project construction commitments
  • Provide leadership, mentor, and direct others
  • Read and interpret construction plans to provide client management and effectively communicate by answering inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public
  • Become familiar with the plans and specifications, maps, and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately
  • May use CADD software and equipment to prepare and revise technical drawings using company established standard procedures
  • May be required to understand and follow company established standard CADD procedures for file structure and standard drawing procedures for projects
  • May need to remain up to date with CADD equipment, software, and training to improve CADD efficiency and accuracy


Qualifications



  • An Associate's degree in accredited engineering or construction management program; equivalent applicable experience can be substituted in lieu of formal education.
  • Previous construction field project oversight experience
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehicles


Relationships

The Engineering Technician III is supervised by the Team Lead and receives guidance and direction on project related tasks from the Project Manager. Project related supervisory responsibilities may include technicians and support staff members.



  • The position is responsible for planning and carrying out the assignment, resolving most of the conflicts which arise, coordinating the work of others as necessary and interpreting policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives.


Hours and Travel

This position requires the individual work 40+ hours per week with 70% of time spent in the office and 30% in the field.

The employee is regularly required to:



  • Sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Talk or hear and communicate clearly


The employee must:



  • Be able to walk on uneven terrain up to three miles per day
  • Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds


Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
