Texas Oncology is looking for a Infusion LVN Sr to join our team! This is a regional float positions and will help to support locations in the Dallas region..

This position can be a level 1, 2 or Sr based on relevant candidate experience.

What does the Infusion Infusion LVN Sr do? (including but not limited to)

Under general supervision, provides general nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. Maintains efficient patient flow, assists with patient care, i.e. vitals, assessments and procedures. Maintains physicians schedule and performs miscellaneous tasks assigned by physicians. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Provides general nursing care to patients.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
  • Observes, records, and reports patients condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
  • Administers prescribed medications as directed.
  • Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination.
  • Screens patients for appropriate information.
  • Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
  • Schedules patient tests, procedures and hospital admissions and provides follow-up for receipt of test results.
  • Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.
  • Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Formulates and updates patient care plans.
  • Orders, prepares and inspects patients charts.
  • Posts tests and examination results.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Assures appropriate consent has been obtained prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Performs EKG and oxymetry readings as needed by physician.
  • Performs lab procedures and processing of lab specimens as needed.
  • Files all labs and outside reports accurately and as needed.
  • Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
  • Maintains all exam room disinfection protocols.
  • Maintains all chemo room and procedure room disinfection protocols.
  • Prepares exam rooms including re-stocking of treatment areas.
  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
  • Arranges for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.
  • Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
  • Acts as a backup for other medical assistants and schedulers as needed.
  • Maintains patient files, records and other information.
  • Acts as preceptor and provides input to performance appraisals of Medical Assistant

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Inufsion LVN Sr will have the following background and experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing.
  • Requires a minimum of five years experience as a practical nurse in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current CPR certification required.
