Overview

Responsibilities

• The Customer Field Representative positions require several pre-employment testing to qualify for employment.
• If a vacancy becomes available and you meet the qualifications of the position, you may be contacted. Business needs may cause Con Edison to cancel or delay filling position at any time during the selection process.
• Con Edison is seeking to hire full time Customer Field Representatives to read electric and gas meters as well as perform field collection activities throughout Con Edison service territory based on operating needs, (Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Westchester).
• Communicate with poise, and tact to handle routine customer interactions in a pleasant and courteous manner.
• Be organized and accurate in work.
• Work in a position in which you are constantly aware of your surroundings and/or personal safety.
• Use good judgment in making on-the-job decisions.
• Required to have and use personal vehicle for work and able to secure job equipment in vehicle.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED

• Friendly and service-oriented
• Assumes personal responsibility for actions
• Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
• Strong verbal communication and listening skills

• Driver's License Required

• Ability to respond to system emergencies
• Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
• Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
• Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
• Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
• Acknowledge that if selected, must pass a Physical Abilites Test (PAT)

• Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
• Constant Walking, several miles per day in all types of weather

• Frequent - Bending forward, Reaching, Flexing elbows and wrists, Twisting, Kneeling
• Occasional - Sitting, Crawling, Twisting, Reaching, Turning, Crouching.

• Vision - Must be able to read meters
• Other- Must be able to grasp and push buttons on hand-held device
