Job Summary The District Marketing and Communications (MarComm) team is looking for a creative, self-starter to join us as our Social Media Manager. In this role, you will channel your passion for communications and digital media to craft engaging content that brings MCCCD's story to life across Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Working as part of a cross-functional team, you'll collaborate to develop and implement social media strategies that amplify MCCCD's key messages. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker with strong verbal and written communication skills capable of taking initiative and using their expertise in content creation, development, and analytics to showcase the system's 10 colleges and strategic priorities in innovative ways. Essential Functions 35% - Social Media Content Creation & Strategy Conceptualize, develop, and produce digital content to enhance brand awareness and community engagement across MCCCD's social media platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Stay up-to-date on social media best practices, platform updates, emerging trends, and thought leaders to identify and capitalize on key social media moments. Works closely with cross-function teams to brainstorm and develop compelling content ideas that resonate with target audiences. 25% - Content Creation Designs, captures, edits, and creates social media assets including graphics, photos/stills, and short videos for social media channels. Leverages creative tools, performance metrics, and earned media tactics to produce engaging audience-building content for various social channels. 20% - Communications Drafts clear, concise, and engaging content for social media including blogs, press releases, long and short-form copy, and social media kits to effectively communicate system news, events, campaigns, and key priorities. Works proactively to identify opportunities to strengthen community engagement, amplifies district-wide stories and messages, and recruitment efforts through earned media channels. 15% - Content Management Schedules and posts social media content using native tools and scheduling applications. Manages social media content calendar to ensure a consistent posting schedule across all platforms, aligning content with department and system priorities. Uses social media analytics and audience research to track and monitor content performance, developing creative campaigns to drive actionable insight and optimize content strategies. Designs audience-building and social engagement strategies using performance-based and earned media tactics. 5% - Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in public relations, marketing, journalism or related field and four years of advanced journey level experience in developing, planning and implementing public relations and marketing activities, projects, and campaigns. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
