Summary of Position:
The Grant Development and Project Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing competitive funding plans in federal, state, and private grant making to support Western priorities, programs, and initiatives.

There are two open positions for this posting.
  • One is a benefit-eligible full-time regular position
  • One is a benefit-eligible full-time limited term position with an end date of 9/30/28

These two positions are hybrid eligible positions that would allow for 2-3 days a week working from home after the training period

Essential Functions

1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.
2. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.
3. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.
4. Resource Development - Supporting Action/Tasks May Include:

  • Develop federal and state grant projects using best practices in grant writing and ethical decision-making, following Western procedures and the Grants Dept. Handbook as a guide.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with department deans, managers, faculty, and staff who are involved in planning and implementing grant projects.
  • Research and then coordinate opportunities with grant funding requests across the college.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Wisconsin Technical College System office coordinators of state projects.
  • Identify potential challenges threatening grant revenue and make appropriate recommendations to supervisor.
  • Collaborating with the Grant Writer, monitor, compile, and assign project writing requirements, so projects are completed within internal and external deadlines.
  • Work with other WTCS colleges as needed on grant-funded consortium projects.
5. Project Management - Supporting Action/Tasks May Include:
  • Manage timelines and deliverables in developing and writing winning federal and state grant proposals.
  • Facilitate implementation plans for funded projects in collaboration with designated grant managers. Monitor adherence to implementation plans through regular check-ins to inform, compose, and submit grant-required reporting and compliance regulations.
  • Through feedback, suggest improvements to workflows or processes, including grants management and tracking of reporting information.
  • Help monitor Grant Writer capacity, create/track timelines, and document all stages of project.
6. Coordination with Internal Partners - Supporting Action/Tasks May Include:
  • Liaise with Foundation to take on and assign private foundation proposals to support college or Foundation priorities.
  • Develop longer-term funding plans for new or emergent academic and/or student programs in collaboration with Director of Grants.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field with 3 yrs. occupational experience OR
  • Education in related field combined with related occupational experience totaling 7 yrs. OR
  • Related Occupational experience totaling 7 yrs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years' experience in related field
  • Previous employment at an institution of higher education
  • Employment in careers that actively promote equity and social justice for disengaged individuals
  • Student affairs, workforce development, and/or grant writing experience
  • A degree in communications

Special Instructions/About Western

This position reports to: Director of Grants

Starting annual/hourly salary range based on education and experience: $58,325 - $76,289

There are two open positions for this posting.

  • One is a full-time limited term position with an end date of 9/30/28
