Responsible for the safe, timely, courteous, and competent transportation of patients and specimens throughout the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, primarily via wheelchair or stretcher. Receives assignments for specific trips and associated tasks from Supervisor and/or EPIC/Rover Applications. Retrieves transport equipment throughout the campus area, as directed.
Location:
- Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, located in, Baltimore, MD.
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday.
- 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM.
- With rotating weekends.

- Work requires walking and standing for greater than 90% of the time.
- Work requires assisting clinical staff with facilitating patient movement to and from transport equipment, lifting and/or carrying of up to fifty pounds of equipment or patient-related items; pushing and/or pulling non-motorized and motorized equipment (e.g., stretchers, wheelchairs) weighing over 50 pounds; stooping and bending; moving or pushing of up to 250 pounds alone, or up to 450 pounds with the help of others, primarily in the transport of patients.
- Work requires the ability to navigate directionally.
- Work requires the ability to read and write information regarding patient assignments and to confirm patient identification.
- Work requires the ability to read and comprehend policies and procedures.
- Work requires the abilityto work independently.
- Work requires the abilityto operate a handheld work iPhone device.
- Knowledge of customer service core competencies for the ability to deal directly with patients, their families, staff and JHM customers.
- Work constantly involves contact with patients and/or visitors which requires courtesy and caring behaviors.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited high school or a G.E.D. Certificate.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Minimum of one year experience in customer service setting.
- Training in use of equipment used to transport patients is desired but not required.
