Architect General Manager
is needed for a Direct Hire in Atlanta, GA. I represent a company that is full-service Architectural/Engineering (A/E) company with operations throughout the Continental United States and Pacific. Our primary client base is Department of Defense (DOD) agencies, including NAVFAC, USACE, and US Air Force installations, non-DoD Government agencies, and Utility/Industrial clients. ZAPATA is seeking a General Manager to lead and grow our Atlanta, GA office.

Position Summary:

This position requires a qualified registered architect or professional engineer to manage the design and construction phase services for a variety of facility types, including both new and renovation projects on military installations and for utility clients. This is an ideal opportunity for an architect or engineer with experience working with DoD clients who is ready to advance their career by stepping into a leadership role to oversee and manage our Atlanta office.

Responsibilities/Duties:


  • The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively leading and managing A-E design projects, providing operational oversight, and supporting the pursuit of new work opportunities within the region.
  • This role requires an understanding of project budgets and financials, including reporting and presenting project status and results to senior leadership.
  • Lead the growth of operational capability and scale in the region through talent acquisition and talent development.
  • Engage with existing clients to enhance relationships and best position our team to maintain a stable and growing backlog.
  • Assist in designing and executing short-term and long-term regional market strategies.
  • Support and grow the regional business by building relationships throughout each client's organization.
  • Support business development pursuits, key partnerships, strategy, and initiatives, including supporting development and review of technical and cost proposals.
  • Oversee office/staff performance routinely using pre-defined metrics (design quality, schedule adherence, and financial performance).
  • Mentor new and experienced team members, assisting them to meet individual career goals.
  • Build teams, including appropriate levels of management, needed to ensure quality execution (adherence to budget, schedule, and quality).
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of office staff, serving as primary office representative.
  • Coordinate staffing needs and availability routinely with Charlotte HQ office leadership.
  • Support development of business planning and market strategy within the region.
  • Perform all work safely and effectively.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or related field.
  • At least 12 years of experience in the A/E design industry required. Experience with providing A/E services to Federal agency clients preferred.
  • At least four years of management experience leading project teams performing A/E design for new and renovated facilities and infrastructure.
  • Licensed Architect or Engineer. If applicable, ability to obtain Georgia License within 6 months.
  • The ability to travel 15% to 25% of time to client and project locations is expected.
  • Working knowledge of engineering standards applicable to DoD and/or the power industry.

Estimated Min Rate: $109, 000
Estimated Max Rate: $156, 000
