Overview
Planned Systems International (PSI) is seeking an AFSOC Air Commando Course / Field Skills Instructor to join our team at Hurlburt Field. The selected candidate will provide the appropriate management and labor to instruct the courses within the 371 SOCTS tasking portfolio and any additional training events within the scope of the 371 SOCTS at the request from the COR or CO. Instruction in all field skills courses will incorporate fundamentals and principles using the "crawl-walk-run" approach and will incorporate the latest battlefield Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs). All instruction techniques in the courses will follow the task, condition, and standard format, which offer participants the opportunity to monitor training and gain proficiency and standardization, outlined in the approved curriculum.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
Support dynamic mission and training requirements, providing maximum flexibility and adaptability.
- Instruct on each discipline within the 371 SOCTS training portfolio.
- Execute training as per Syllabi and Plans of Instruction.
- Fly mission aircraft and use firearms to support training missions.
- Occasionally serve as a role player or OPFOR.
- Pass an annual SME exam for Field Skills qualification and complete the Airmen's Instructor Course (AIC) through CCAF.
- Provide daily practical instruction, develop training manuals and procedures, and offer mentorship to students and peer instructors.
Minimum Requirements
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Completed at least an academic regionally accredited associate's degree (higher is desired).
- Relevant military background with current experience (within the past 6 years) in US military special operations and training in military combat tactics.
- Minimum of 8 years of U.S. DoD experience in Special Operations.
- At least 2 years of advanced tactical training experience.
- Direct experience conducting tactics including Advanced Tactical Weapons, Tactical Combat Casualty Care, Tactical Force Protection, Active Shooter, Insider Threat, Cockpit Denial, Anti-Terrorism Dynamic Defensive Driving, and Small Unit Tactics.
- Subject matter expert in field skills training (techniques, tactics, and procedures).
- Capable of supporting as a role player/OPFOR.
- Eligible to fly on mission aircraft and use issued firearms to support training missions.
- Capable of flying on military aircraft and/or traveling under Temporary Duty (TDY) orders to any specified location.
- Legally eligible to carry and discharge a firearm IAW the DD 2760.
- Mentally and physically capable of instructing, qualifying on, and maintaining currency in the Air Force small arms qualification course for handgun and rifle as outlined in AFMAN 36-2655.
- Physically able to instruct students in field conditions under various climatic conditions.
- Able to demonstrate individual movement techniques and conduct overland movement ranging from 1-3Km while carrying minimal 20 lbs. of required safety and personnel protection gear.
- Physically able to assist in evacuation from field locations using patient evacuation techniques and to demonstrate combative techniques IAW the POI.
- Able to hear audible safety commands and range instructions.
- Presentation and communication skills for training, educating, and developing manuals/procedures.
- Interpersonal skills for interaction with employees, students, and Government counterparts.
- Proficiency in personal computer and business software.
- Analytical, organizational, and management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in Small Unit Tactics, Ground Defensive Tactics, Combatives, Land Navigation, Urban Movement, and Tactical Communication as an instructor at a formal school or SOF course.
- Direct AFSOC deployed mission experience.
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Paramedic experience and/or recent experience providing medical care.
- USAF recognized Instructor training course highly desirable.
- Combat medic experience preferred, including 68W (US Army's Combat Medic) or 18D (Special Forces Medical Sergeant), Navy Corpsman, Air Force IDMT, SOFME, or similar experience.
- Experience conducting TCCC Instruction and operating in the AFSOC Tactical Operations Medical Simulator (TOMS) lab.
- Specialized in gun range operations/competitive shooting.
- Special Tactics experience (PJ, CCT, TACP, SR) or 18B Special Forces Weapon Sergeant or Combat Arms Apprentice course graduate.
- Certified NRA instructor preferred, with formal military or SOF weapons course instructor experience.
- Proficient with specific firearms and combat arms programs.
- EOD MOS/ACFC or 18C Special Forces Engineer with knowledge and experience in IED detection, ground sign awareness, and emergency procedures.
- Instructor for military combatives programs, with SOCP certification or advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills highly desired.
- Experience in Aircraft Cockpit Denial/Active Shooter/Insider Threat, anti-hi-jacking/antiterrorism procedures, and Surveillance Detection relevant to AFSOC missions.
- Defensive driving instructor with relevant experience outlined in syllabi.
Additional Information
- The majority of training will take place on Hurlburt Field, Florida and the surrounding area, within a 100-mile radius.
