Experienced plumber. Performs diversified duties involved in the maintenance, repair and installation of plumbing, piping and other systems and equipment. Leads specialty projects.
- Performs emergency, routine, preventive maintenance, plumbing installations and inspection service to pipes, gas lines, fixtures and all other plumbing and mechanical systems. Coordinates activities to accomplish, monitor and inspect work to meet specifications and code requirements. Reads and interprets blueprints and specifications
- Inspects, troubleshoots, installs, repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, using hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments. Identifies and secures appropriate supplies and equipment.
- Prepares work areas and fixtures, plans installations, requests permits, installs, tests, repairs, inspects and replaces pipes, fitting and all other plumbing fixtures to maintain heating, water, natural gas, medical gases and drainage systems. Provides direction, guidance and technical assistance as needed to other personnel.
- Documents and maintains all required records and information pertinent to assignments, work orders, instruction manuals, blueprints and other such materials as required.
- Provides training and technical updates other department personnel to expand department capabilities. Updates practices as necessary to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. Researches new techniques, materials, equipment and makes recommendations to management.
What We Require:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of a trade or vocational school with courses in blueprint reading & plumbing preferred.
Experience: Three years of residential or commercial maintenance-related work
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Must obtain a Journeyman's or Master Plumbing License within 24 months of hire. Valid Virginia Driver's License preferred for positions in the hospitals and required for Property Maintenance positions.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Familiarity with state plumbing codes for hospitals and commercial occupancies. Good interpersonal and teamwork skills. Ability to communicate with co-workers and others. Ability to use a computerized work order control system. Ability to maintain required records, and follow verbal and written instructions. May be asked to provide basic general purpose maintenance tools.
Position is deemed 'emergency personnel' during emergency conditions. May be asked to provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites. May be required to work at other Carilion facilities to meet staffing needs.
