Status: Full-time, 40-hours per week, non-exempt
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Job Summary:

MedStar Health is looking for a Patient Navigator Oncology to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center!

As a Patient Navigator you will be responsible for developing, planning, and implementing oncology related health education programs and services for patients, family members, employees and the community.

Primary Duties:

  • Develops, coordinates, and implements oncology related educational outreach programs that are consistent with defined program objectives for patients, staff, and metropolitan area populations.

  • Assures patients understand process by communicating to them effectively regardless of their native language. Informs patients of potential consequences of missing screenings and tests.

  • Serves as primary contact on requests for information from patients and family members, employees and the public. Responds to inquiries and provides information in a timely manner.

  • Develops, coordinates, and maintains health education activities targeted specifically for wellness programs.

  • Partners with community-based oncology organizations to develop oncology educational programs and services. Recruits community, business, church, fraternal, and other groups for support in the presentation of oncology education programs.

  • Identifies patient and community education needs through needs assessment, data collection and analysis. Keeps abreast on newly published research about cancer education and outreach and integrates it to the ongoing programs of the department.

  • Arranges transportation to cancer center for patients.

  • Manages database to track registered patients and uses software to create reminders and follow-up letters about mammograms.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Education, Health Sciences, or Nursing required.

  • 3-4 years of progressively more responsible experience in development, presentation and evaluation of health and oncology educational programs required.

  • Bilingual candidate preferred.

This position has a hiring range of $28.20 - $47.30
