Job Summary Provides student service program support, advisement, processing, and information resource referrals by performing the more technically demanding program support tasks, including extensive responsibilities for student advising, counseling, and processing. Coordinates office workflow and provides training to other staff members. Applicants must be in good standing with all U.S. Department of Education Federal Student Aid programs and eligible to access federal websites required to perform job duties. Essential Functions 30% - Processes financial aid programs and activities; coordinates office work flow and the consistent implementation of policies and procedures; assists with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the public. 20% - Trains staff and student employees in financial aid policies, practices, procedures and guidelines. 15% - Responds to difficult inquiries and to appeals/professional judgments based on detailed knowledge of financial aid policies and procedures. 15% -Troubleshoots office service issues which may include computer software problems; functions as a liaison for college departments and agencies. 10% - Researches/analyzes regulations for financial aid programs and communicates federal guidelines and policies. 10% - Organizes and conducts on-campus financial aid presentations and may serve as Financial Aid liaison to Veterans; performs related duties commensurate to the grade level of the position. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. OR High School Diploma or GED and four years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. Desired Qualifications 1. Experience performing complex functions in a financial aid office, such as professional judgment reviews, income adjustments or dependency overrides, packaging federal and institutional aid packages 2. Experience maintaining, applying, and communicating financial aid regulations and guidelines. 3. Experience with system setup and troubleshooting issues in an automated financial aid system (such as PeopleSoft or another student information system). 4. Experience with developing and updating procedures, and staff training experience developing and maintaining business processes and documents. 5. Experience leading others in processing, student service, compliance, and other functions of a Financial Aid team. 6. Recent (within the last 12 months) experience providing general and escalated financial aid assistance to students and others via phone, email, and in person. Special Working Conditions
