The School of Computing (SoC) is a growing and congenial school of 45 faculty jointly administered by the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering. The SoC has nearly 1900 undergraduate majors, 260 graduate students, and another 500 students pursuing minor or one of the three certificates in applied data science, computing, and security and privacy. It offers the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, B.S. and MS degrees in Data Science, and an M.S. degree in Cybersecurity and Privacy. The school also contributes to a number of other programs on campus, like M.S and Ph.D degrees in Artificial Intelligence (AI), B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering ( ECE), and B.A. in Cognitive Science. In addition to the areas in which we are recruiting, our faculty cover a broad range of research interests, including Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence (broadly defined to also include computer vision and robotics), Bioinformatics, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Security and Privacy, Computational Science, and Computer Systems (including parallel, distributed, embedded, real-time, and high-performance computing). Faculty hired as part of this initiative will join a rapidly-growing College of Engineering that combines interdisciplinary research and scholarship with excellent instruction and service. The UGA College of Engineering currently enrolls over 3,000 engineering majors and has 104 full-time engineering faculty across 15 degrees. The college also jointly administers the School of Computing in collaboration with the UGA Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. The College of Engineering is comprised for four interdisciplinary schools: the School of Chemical, Materials, and Biomedical Engineering; School of Electrical and Computer Engineering; School of Environmental, Civil, Agricultural, and Mechanical Engineering; and School of Computing. The Franklin College of Art and Science is the oldest and large college at the University of Georgia, comprising of 30 Academic Departments, 8 Institutes and more than 12,000 students pursue one of more than 80 degrees offered by the College.
