About the Department

Our Insurance and Risk Management Undergraduate Program is designed to equip students for productive careers focused on managing risks within corporations, within the insurance or financial services industry, or as a supplier of risk management products and services.

The Carl H. Lindner III Center for Insurance & Risk Management ("LCIRM" henceforth) is an industry-leading research center that seeks to understand, analyze and improve how economies, enterprises and individuals manage risk. By engaging faculty and students throughout the University of Cincinnati and (inter)nationally recognized scholars in insurance and risk management research and collaboration, as well as cultivating industry partnerships, the Center is the premier provider of thought leadership through high-impact risk research and exchange of knowledge between academia and industry. Job Overview

The Visiting Assistant Professor will engage in teaching and research within the insurance and risk management discipline, which is academically situated within the Department of Finance. The Visiting Assistant Professor may also engage with LCIRM activities directed toward students and industry. The teaching load is 2 courses per semester. This is a 2-year appointment: August 15, 2025 - August 14, 2027. Please note, this position does not support visa sponsorship.

Essential Functions

  • Teaching:Teach entry-level and upper-division insurance/risk management courses as determined by the department chair and dependent on departmental needs.
  • Collaboration:Collaborate with related academic programs and faculty and staff.
  • Research:Engage in insurance and risk management-focused research, potentially in collaboration with other Lindner IRM faculty.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Doctorate in Insurance and Risk Management or related field with a focus in insurance and risk management (e.g., Finance, Economics)

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Demonstrated teaching excellence, in particular teaching entry level RMI courses.
  • Demonstrated research activity focused on insurance and risk management data and empirical analysis.
