Job Description - Student Intern, Mechanical Engineer (Power Production)

Position Description

The role is to assist in the documentation of existing systems and development and implementation of Power Plant Projects.

This internship is part-time hours during the school year, and full-time hours during school breaks. This position is 100% on-site at our Power Plant/Irvington location, with no option for remote work

Position-Related Responsibilities



  • Review and submittal of Engineering Documents to assist in the completion of projects
  • Utilizing Engineering documents to ensure properly labeled plant equipment according to TEP standard
  • Create system drawing packages for established processes to expedite troubleshooting
  • Review field equipment in comparisons with engineering drawings to ensure correctness
  • Assist Engineering group in routine problem solving using fundamental principles of mathematics and physics



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Must be actively enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university and pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Must have an expected graduation date of May 2025 or later
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to protect highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment


Requirements



  • Must be able to work up to 20 hours per week during regular business hours; and up to 40 hours per week during summer and school breaks depending on the business needs.
    Student Interns must maintain the required hours for full-time student status, good academic standing at their college or university, as defined by the college or university and the GPA required for graduation by their college or university.
  • Failure to maintain full-time status, good academic standing and/or the required GPA will result in Student Interns being deemed ineligible for participation in this program.
  • Scheduling of work hours and assignments should be made taking into consideration that Student Interns are students first and employees second.
  • Travel to and from Downtown Headquarters and Irvington campus as needed
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to maintain it.


Pay Rate: $17+ depending on experience and qualifications
