OverviewThe Core Search and AI team is the leading applied machine learning team at Microsoft responsible for delivering the highest-quality search experience to over hundreds of millions monthly active users around the world in Microsoft's search engine, Bing and other dependent search engines such as Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, and startups like Neeva. We are responsible for the largest machine learning models at Microsoft by volume and take pride in being the first in the world to solve many practical AI at Scale challenges.As a Senior Applied Scientist in Core Search and AI team, you will be working on cutting-edge machine learning and LLM technology to improve online engagement of Bing Search. We have many exciting problems here to solve like leveraging LLM for relevance improvement and training data collection, building SOTA large scale NN models and feature processing framework, use reinforcement learning to drive user retention etc. This opportunity will allow you to work on the latest and innovative areas and help you develop skills in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, data science and Large-Scale systems. ResponsibilitiesYou will master one or more subareas and gain expertise in a broad area of research, including applicable research techniques. You'll also gain deep knowledge of a service, platform, or domain, and identify product needs by sharing the latest industry trends and applied technologies.You will review business requirements and incorporate research to meet business goals. You'll provide strategic direction for the kinds of data used to solve problems and apply deep subject matter knowledge to support business impact.You will participate in onboarding of junior team members and assist in developing academics to be members of multidiscipline teams. You'll identify new research talent to join Microsoft and collaborate with the academic community to develop the recruiting pipeline.You will document work in progress and experimentation results and share findings to promote innovation. You'll also use your deep understanding of fairness and bias to contribute to ethics and privacy policies related to research processes and data collection.
