Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership

Position Overview: The Department of Doctoral Studies in Education welcomes applications for a tenure-track position in its Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) Educational Leadership program. The program blends leadership and scholarship and focuses on enhancing the educational and organizational leadership of students in the program. This position requires a background in K-12 with successful leadership experience to support the students with a K-12 educational background who are pursuing this program.

Applications will be reviewed beginning January 6, 2025. The search will continue until the position is filled. The start date will be negotiated with the selected candidate, with an anticipated start date during the spring or summer 2025 semester.

Faculty at CSP work as members of an academic team of full- and part-time colleagues to consistently deliver high-quality instruction to students. Faculty are expected to demonstrate innovation and excellence in curriculum planning, foster an atmosphere of active intellectual and creative engagement with students, and support the Christian mission of the university. With students at the center of the university's mission, delivering a high-quality student experience is a top priority of the Concordia learning community.

Essential Duties:


  • Facilitate quality student learning by teaching assigned courses.
  • Collaboratively design assigned courses (with input from colleagues, industry experts, instructional design experts, and administration) in alignment with approved student learning outcomes that advance student learning, retention, and graduation that meet university requirements. Include strategies and methods that promote effective student learning (for example, active learning techniques).
  • Participate, as assigned, in the academic unit's ongoing curriculum development, assessment, program reviews, and accreditation efforts.
  • Serve as dissertation chair and dissertation committee member for students pursuing the Ed.D. Education.
  • Demonstrates a professional and collegial demeanor in working with students, colleagues, and the larger Concordia University, St. Paul learning community.
  • Attend faculty meetings and development activities (both on-campus and virtual) to enhance teaching skills, stay current in their field, and network with other professionals.
  • Provide service to the university and discipline as appropriate to the faculty member's role and responsibility within the academic unit.
  • Pursue a scholarly agenda appropriate to the discipline and the faculty member's role and responsibility.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Follow the university and academic unit's policies and procedures.


Education and Experience:


  • Required: Terminal Degree
  • Required: Experience as a K-12 professional with demonstrated leadership success
  • Preferred: Experience teaching doctoral-level courses in technology-mediated online formats
  • Preferred: Record of research and publication in educational leadership
  • Preferred: Experience chairing and advising doctoral dissertations
