The Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is currently seeking talented candidates for an Audio Visual Technician/Editor at our Silver Springs, NV location. At NATC, the Audio Visual Technician/Editor supports a team of engineers who design, manufacture, and test innovative automotive mobility solutions.

Founded in 1957, the Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is a privately owned, independent test, evaluation, design and engineering facility offering development and testing to customers worldwide.

NATC's location in the great basin of Nevada allows our team to access terrain that can represent 85% of the world within a 150-mile radius, providing an excellent test bed for off-road mobility. NATC's operational area includes 1200 sq. miles of natural terrain, that when coupled with 6,200 acres of privately owned test courses, create an unparalleled testing area available to our engineers to innovate and solve our customer's problems. NATC has completed thousands of test programs as a one-stop shop for automotive development.

Position Summary:

The Audio Visual (A/V) Technician/Editor works under the direct supervision of the Engineering Operations department manager and supports all aspects of the company's video documentation needs and the resulting edited products that are delivered to our customers. The selected candidate will oversee and maintain the A/V department's existing assets; coordinate the training and use of those assets by other employees; support video documentation in the field to document test results; perform the download, editing, retrieval, and archiving of historic A/V data; and generate the final product for internal or external use in a variety of formats. This position also supports special assignments including the retrieval and processing of historic data, the creation of presentation and marketing materials, as well as research and validation of alternative A/V hardware, software, and related technologies to improve department efficiency and end product quality.

Essential Functions:




  1. Provide ongoing video recording and processing support to current vehicle design, test and evaluation activities. Coordinate with coworkers to plan and schedule A/V support based on project deadlines and priorities.
  2. Maintain, store, and track video cameras and related equipment on a daily basis.
  3. Demonstrate a thorough technical knowledge of A/V hardware and processing tools.
  4. Have familiarity with various A/V software processes and tools.
  5. Support video recording in the field as requested by project personnel.
  6. Download, compile, and transfer all forms of A/V media into the editing environment.
  7. Review video data to identify content or events of interest based on the project objectives.
  8. Use editing equipment and software to condense the acquired video into edited segments for use in presentations or for delivery to the customer on digital media.
  9. Archive and organize raw and processed A/V data for future retrieval.
  10. Communicate frequently and efficiently with project engineers, program managers, and other support staff to align A/V department activities with current priorities.
  11. Work with vehicle test teams to develop unique video equipment installations and video acquisition methods to satisfy specific project objectives.
  12. Develop video compilations including integration with still photographs, presentation slides, or other graphics to support tradeshows, company website updates, customer demonstrations, etc.


Secondary Functions:



  1. Perform basic repairs or replacements of A/V equipment.
  2. Operate company vehicles in support of test operations.
  3. Provide photo processing and editing support.
  4. Develop and maintain new video documentation capabilities (e.g., drone video support, onboard vehicle recording, remote wireless video streaming, etc.).
  5. Improve internal processes for recording, editing, and distribution of video material based on emerging technologies or new customer requirements.
  6. Develop and update written procedures and training materials related to A/V data acquisition, storage, review, and processing.
  7. Perform review and editing of historic test film documentation (e.g., 16 mm, 8 mm, VHS) and conversion to a current digital format.
  8. Assist in special projects or other duties as assigned.



Pay:

$25-$27



Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Associates Degree from an accredited college/technical school plus 3 years' experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  2. Previous experience as a video technician/editor.
  3. Video camera and still camera operation experience
  4. Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week with varied work shifts.
  5. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  6. Must be professional, personable, and able to relate well with employees and customers at all levels.
  7. Must be detail-oriented.
  8. Must possess strong computer skills including database entry, report generation skills and proficiency in the use of software listed below.
  9. Must have excellent organization and time management skills.
  10. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and rapidly changing business conditions.
  11. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver's License.
  12. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, expressing ideas clearly and actively listening to thoughts and ideas of others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Familiarity with automotive testing industry or similar technical environment.
  2. General knowledge of mechanical systems and vehicle dynamics.
  3. Experience in remote testing or similar field environments.
  4. Familiar with wireless video transmission and video teleconferencing.
  5. Familiar with high-speed video acquisition, post-processing, and motion tracking/analysis.
  6. Experience with analog media to digital conversion.
  7. Knowledge of media storage applications.
  8. General knowledge of electrical wiring circuits, interface cables, and connections such as RCA, BNC, and Ethernet.
  9. General knowledge and experience with digital and film based imaging and reproduction, including negatives, prints, and image file compression methods and applications.
  10. Familiarity with action cameras, infrared cameras, and other remote/compact video equipment for onboard recording applications.
  11. Knowledge of synchronizing video data with other digital data streams.

Software and Equipment Used:

  1. Adobe CS 5.5 or higher.
  2. Adobe PS CS5 extended or higher.
  3. Microsoft Windows 7 Professional or higher.
  4. Microsoft Word 2010 or higher.
  5. Microsoft Excel 2010 or Higher.
  6. Microsoft Power Point.

Physical Demands:

This is primarily an office position, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods, lift audiovisual equipment, open supplies and bend or stand as necessary. This position also requires walking on uneven ground and climbing stairs.

Occasionally, the position may also involve the following work conditions to support specific assignments:

  1. Perform tasks in the field in extreme temperature and/or environmental conditions for extended periods of time.
  2. Lift up to 50 pounds.
  3. Climb onto, work under, and maneuver around vehicles.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work hours may vary due to project needs.
