Under the direct supervision of the modality or department leader, the Diagnostic Imaging Aide coordinates the activities of the department through communication, requisitioning, and managing of supplies, equipment and staff. Interacts and communicates with personnel from various departments and support services as well as the public and department co-workers. Provides administrative and clerical support to the department. Responsibilities A day in the life of a Diagnostic Imaging Aide at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: 1. Demonstrates knowledge and competency in completing assigned duties/responsibilities according to established protocols for procedures being performed. 2. Has knowledge of various procedures and understands the use and implications when imaging contrast is being used. Reviews lab work values for IV contrast studies as well as medical terminology as related to patient history. 3. Provides Clerical Support: Assist other Team members to fulfill department needs (test ordering, test result processing, making copies, filing, mailing, telephone calls, film/report retrieval/printing/faxing). 4. Schedules Guests/customer appointments: Guests/customers are scheduled appropriately based on physician script request, history or new concern. Appropriate instructions given for Pre-registration and specific test preparation. 5. Responsible for Patient/Data management: Maintains consistent records for billing and appropriate tracking (activating accounts, patient in/out, film sign-/sign/out log, responds timely to film requests). Appropriately rescheduling guests/patients and maintaining a system for cancellations, pathology, etc. 6. Provide safe direct patient care 7. Changes table configuration. 8. Assist technologist, Radiologist/Nurse as needed. 9. Provides appropriate support in all Diagnostic Imaging areas as needed. 10. Coordinate cases as directed by the technologist or provider. 11. Greets patients and guests upon arrival to the department, gives complete and accurate instructions, communicated in a clear and concise manner to fill out necessary paperwork pertaining to their appropriate tests. 12. Reviews and completes pending report log along with failed faxes. 13. Retrieves needed patient related documents from the computer for Radiologist and staff. 14. Retrieve and disseminate imaging medical records. Upload external imaging onto PACS. 15. Follows network policy for patient identification, assists with placing patients on and off procedure table using appropriate body mechanics, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and assists patient's needs. 16. Provide clerical support to the clinical team in critical value reporting. 17. Stocks and cleans rooms as necessary, records temperature on refrigerator and warmer, puts away supplies/breakdown cardboard, empties linen/garbage as needed. 18. Observes patients in a holding area and assists in transferring and transporting patients in a safe and efficient manner. Adheres to the Falls Prevention protocols. 19. Maintains adequate supply of materials for daily use. Helps organize and maintain a clean and safe work environment. 20. Complies with hospital, local, state and federal regulatory and accrediting standards as well as department specific protocols and policies. 21. Participates in continuing education and completes required E-Learning as assigned. 22. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 23. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. 2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 3. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Previous data entry experience. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 3 months of hire.
