The Long-Range and Strategic Communications Group develops new system concepts and techniques to support the US Government's most critical communications needs. The Group specializes in RF communications in multi-domain applications (ground, sea, air, and space) for global assured connectivity in the presence of adversary interference and interception threats. The Group leverages its expertise in communications system analysis, digital signal processing, RF technology, rapid prototyping, and field experimentation to research, develop, characterize, and demonstrate new capabilities.


Job Description:

An individual who assists in laboratory or research work and operates experimental and technical equipment under the supervision of scientific personnel or technicians of higher grade. Must be able to work for periods of time without supervision. Typical tasks will include but not be limited to:

(1) Fabrication and assembly of electronic hardware from electronic schematics. This may include populating printed circuit boards with components or wiring a component-level RF assembly with multiconductor and RF cables.

(2) Mechanical assembly of RF systems based on mechanical drawings. This may include mounting/bracketing devices, drilling/tapping when appropriate, installation of equipment into racks, and electrical testing once complete.

(3) Management of parts for the technical builds including ordering, storage, inventory management, fabrication needs, and documentation.

Eagerness to learn highly technical equipment, procedures, and techniques. Some light-to-moderate chassis and equipment lifting up to a maximum of 60 pounds and occasional travel to field sites. Must work well in a team environment and adjust to rapidly changing needs/requirements.

Requirements:

Graduation from a two year day technical school or its equivalent in applicable experience is the minimum experience requirement.
