Job Description - Student Intern, IT Energy Systems
Tucson Electric Power, one of Arizona's leading utility companies, seeks an individual for the position of Energy Systems Student Intern in the Information Services department. We are looking for an energetic addition to our team to assist real-time power control applications engineers and developers in supporting business processes across multiple departments and business units. This person should have a strong interest in the area of Information Technology.
Position-Related Responsibilities:



  • Assists ITES team with system maintenance, and compliance, patching, and support


  • Assists with application configuration and testing


  • Assists with setup, deployment, and testing of new application test environments


  • Assists with administrative team management tasks


  • Assists with updating and maintaining process and application documentation




A Qualified candidate will:



  • Be pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering related discipline with an expected graduation date of December 2025 or later


  • Have aspirations to eventually work as an application developer, system engineer, system administrator, or electrical engineer


  • Have a high level of interpersonal skills and be able to work as a member of a team


  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills


  • Possess functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products


  • Be self-directed in accomplishing tasks and goals


  • Possess strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills




Requirements:



  • Must pass a background check


  • Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during regular business hours; and up to 30 hours a week during the summer and school breaks


  • Student Interns must maintain the required hours for full-time student status, good academic standing at their college or university, as defined by the college or university and the GPA required for graduation by their college or university


  • Failure to maintain full-time status, good academic standing and/or the requisite GPA will result in Student Interns being deemed ineligible for participation in this program


  • Student Interns are employed on a temporary basis and are generally not eligible for some benefits; including holiday pay


  • Scheduling of work hours and assignments should be made taking into consideration that Student Interns are students first and employees second




Pay Rate: $17.00 + /hr Depending on Experience

All job offers are contingent on successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
