Job Title: Service Extension Field Representative

FLSA Status: Full Time - exempt
Reports to: Divisional EDS & SE Director

Schedule: M-F ( 8:30am to 4:30pm)
Supervises: N/A

Rate of Pay: $70,750 Annually

Closing Date: 11/23/2024

General Summary:
Under the direction of the Divisional Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) & Service Extension (SE) Director, the EDS & SE Field Representative will support SE personnel and is responsible for assisting in preparedness, response, and recovery activities that affect the Intermountain Division as well as its services and programs. The position also conducts emergency management training relevant to the Intermountain Division. Finally, this position ensures that Service extension carries out the mission in every assigned zip code of the Intermountain Division.

Responsibilities:



  • Supervise, develop, and train EDS/SE team (employees and volunteers)in assigned region;
  • Provide monthly report to EDS/SE Director about activities;
  • Review income an expenses against budgets and address significant variances;
  • Work collaboratively with community organizations;
  • Connect with community leaders and systems;
  • Submit to the EDS/SE Director a monthly travel plan
  • Account for all travel expenditures and submit timely expense reports.
  • Work with Corps to develop EDS capacity and strengthen SE partnerships.


Emergency Disaster Services (EDS)



  • Coordinate EDS activities with EDS/SE Director
  • Conductan emergency management training as assigned;
  • Represent TSA in VOADs and other pertinent non-profit emergency management networks as assigned;
  • Represent TSA as a public speaker, emergency management trainer, and/or conference panelist as assigned;
  • Attend seminars, conferences and workshops on related topics, as requested;
  • With approval, deploy to national/international disasters to support Salvation Army emergency efforts.


Service Extension



  • Manage and direct the Service Centers on their daily operations as assigned;
  • Visit assigned Service Units periodically as needed;
  • Form new Service Units when there is a need/desire for TSA presence;
  • Analyze communities, volunteers, programs and recommend changes and develop strategies;
  • Formulate program ideas and initial program proposals in support of assigned Service Units as need determines;
  • Assist service unit communities in times of disaster by assessing community needs, making recommendations to CFC for appropriate financial assistance, liaison with local media and other agencies, and provide on-scene support, leadership and guidance as directed;
  • Advise Service Extension Committees of official Salvation Army policy and assure their compliance;
  • Assist with and initiate and direct special events and community drives.
  • Coordinate the Service Extension Christmas Red Kettle campaign to include recruitment and retention of volunteers and paid staff as approved;
  • Assist Service Unit leadership in volunteer recruitment, retention, and recognition efforts;
  • Help Service Units recruit campers and help arrange transportation to and from camp.
  • Secure speaking engagements at service clubs, civic groups, and religious and charitable organizations in assigned areas;
  • Assist Service Units in completing required statistical and financial reports;
  • Conduct an annual inventory of Service Extension equipment and report to DHQ Finance;
  • Work with the Divisional Grant Writer and the Units to make sure we are maintaining the grant and in compliance;
  • Coordinate all Salvation Army public relations and information activities in assigned Service Unit areas with the Divisional PR Manager;
  • Perform other duties related to this position as needed or assigned.

Education and Work Experience:



  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred) in Emergency Management, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of Administrative and Management Experience, including supervision of a diverse staff, public services, contract management and compliance and emergency disaster response service;
  • FEMA Disaster Response training highly preferred.

Skills:



  • Should have crisis intervention and non-violent crisis intervention skills;
  • Experience in non-profit setting working with homeless, other economically disadvantaged, and culturally diverse populations preferred;
  • Experience recruiting and developing volunteers.


Software-related skills:



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required;
  • A working knowledge of integrated database applications and the ability to use new software programs with basic training;
  • Experience with HMIS systems and WellSky (Servicepoint) preferred.

  • Proven ability to supervise, develop, and train personnel;
  • Excellent strategic planning skills and experience in emergency management planning;
  • Excellent interpersonal and liaison skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Good health, allowing for continuous involvement in a high-stress disaster setting;
  • General knowledge of The Salvation Army preferred;
  • Must be comfortable attending community meetings, meeting city and county officials, and representing The Salvation Army in various groups and situations.
  • Must be minimally 21 years of age and possessing a valid in-state Driver's License
