JOB OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Director Patient Care is responsible for ensuring that quality nursing care is delivered to all patients and his/her nursing units in accordance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital. Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education. Provides input into evaluation of staff performance and the hiring of new employees in accordance with organization policies. Participates in nursing Quality Improvement. Assists with unit administration, including scheduling, payroll and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Assists with the development of policies and procedures for the department, maintains high visibility of the unit and is a clinical resource, who acts as a role model for the staff in the designated area. The Assistant Director Patient Care is responsible for maintaining the continuity of patient flow, ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Use an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age-specific needs and provide age-specific treatment and care.

Ensures that the unit/department/division is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years plus of ACUTE CARE nursing experience or 2 years acute care nursing experience with previous management experience
  • Post Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience
  • Strong critical thinking/assessment skills.
  • Completion of all Orientation requirements.
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.

EDUCATION:

  • Current and active New Jersey RN licensure is required or Compact License with NJ endorsement.
  • Baccalaureate Degree or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) upon hire
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire or within 6 months from date of hire
  • Additional certifications may be required as per the Administrative Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation "Certification" Policy.
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift, Full-Time, 36 hours per week
