Staff Psychologist - Full Time - Pediatric Center, DC

Description

The Staff Psychologist provides psychological services and consultation to inpatients on a post-acute/rehabilitation unit as well as residents of the skilled nursing facility. The Staff Psychologist will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team on patient care, and provide education to staff as needed. The Staff Psychologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to plan and provide culturally-sensitive, high-quality, evidence-based, family-centered care appropriate to the age, needs, and strengths of the patients served. This individual must demonstrate knowledge of child and adolescent development, possess the ability to conduct psycho-diagnostic assessments, impart results to stakeholders, and design treatment plans to meet each patient's and family's specific needs. We are seeking an individual with excellent interpersonal skills, professional maturity, innovative ideas, a willingness to work within an interdisciplinary team model, and who has a passion for delivering service excellence.

Qualifications Minimum Education
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) From an accredited institution. (Required) Or
Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) From an accredited institution. (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
2 years Demonstrate a professional and enthusiastic interest in delivering behavioral health care and psychological services to our pediatric population. Possess knowledge of human growth and development, knowledge of current DSM-5/ICD-10 diagnostic classifications, and the ability to accurately diagnose and treat a range of psychological conditions in children, adolescents, and young adults. (Required)
2 years Strong psycho-diagnostic assessment experience desired. (Required)
2 years Experience with evidenced-based direct care interventions for pediatric populations with conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, chronic illness, pain management, disruptive behaviors, and family dysfunction. (Required)
2 years Strong candidates should demonstrate the ability to employ culturally sensitive, family-centered care in their service delivery practices. The candidate's skill-set should include effective verbal communication, strong writing skills, computer literacy, and the ability to foster team-building. Working knowledge of infection control principles and techniques is an asset. Multi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply. (Preferred) Or
2 years Assess patients and develop treatment plans independently. (Required)

Must possess knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of psychological care.

Must possess Psychologist licensure by the District of Columbia. Upon Hire (Required)

Job Functions
Essential job duties:
  • Maintain professional standards for oneself by adherence to the professional standards and code of ethics of the American Psychological Association and through completion of appropriate continuing education courses.
  • Perform psychological evaluations of inpatients and SNF residents and make reports of the evaluations available as required.
  • Conduct group or individual psychotherapy with patients and families.
  • Participate in team conferences with other Hospital personnel on behalf of patients and families.
  • Maintain required documentation and adhere to time frame standards
  • Meet regularly with the MedicaL Director and communicate issues or concerns to the HSCPC Medical Director as they arise.
  • Participate in any department quality initiatives or performance improvement programs.
  • Plan and provide staff with training in behavior management programs as needed.
  • Consult to HSC System staff; assist in planning and implementation of psychology-related education throughout the Hospital.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and interdisciplinary team on inpatient program development and implementation.
  • Support select outpatient programs by providing limited consultation

Physical Requirements
  • Sedentary Work: Lifting 10 lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one that involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
