Overview

The High Value Payments Team is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to lead the DevOps/ Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practice on a complex, mission-critical payments system. The ideal professional will be able to help us modernize our build and deployment systems, develop solutions for monitoring and observability, and mentor other SRE/DevOps team members. This application is currently hosted on-premises using both managed services and OpenShift and we would like to modernize and unify our builds, test environments, deployments, and production hosting. You would play a key role in defining and leading this effort, as well as helping to mentor other DevOps engineers.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the DevOps/SRE Chapter by collaborating with other DevOps/SRE engineers to effectively solve common problems

  • Lead the definition and development of a modern set of build, test, deployment, and observability processes/tools to replace existing legacy methods

  • Hands-on work for your own projects, as well as with other DevOps/SRE team members to troubleshoot issues, solve problems, and develop new solutions

  • Mentor and teach others through training or coaching, and by setting a good engineering example

  • Possible line management responsibilities for other individual contributors, depending on desire and experience

  • Lead efforts to automate existing processes

  • Coach, mentor, and collaborate with DevOps/SRE engineers

Skills You'll Need

  • Strong desire to automate everything

  • Strong experience, high standards, and a commitment to deliver quality engineering work on an Agile team

  • Driven to constantly learn and research new technologies, to develop solutions for monitoring, infrastructure, automation of build, test, release and deployment procedures

  • Recent hands-on experience with Jenkins, git, containerization, modern monitoring and observability tools such as New Relic and Splunk, and code/static analysis tools such as Veracode and SonarQube

  • Experience with Linus, shell scripting, Terraform, and configuring complex distributed systems

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Excellent communication skills and knowing how your work fits into the bigger picture

  • Problem solving creatively to solve complex problems and take ownership of the solution until its completion

  • Domain experience with payments, banking, finance, or in another highly regulated environment is a plus

  • Desire to teach and mentor others so the entire team can grow and learn

  • Experience migrating applications from on-prem to cloud such as Google Cloud Platform, Azure or any cloud deployment experience is desirable

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the Cary office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in Cary is $125,000 to $203,000.Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
