Essential Job Functions
This position will be responsible for cleaning responsibilities associated with University parking garages to include housekeeping responsibilities; cleaning of elevators and stairwells; power washing to include specified areas of campus; operation of sweepers, scrubbers, and other equipment used for surface cleaning; and routine collection of trash/recycling from parking garage facilities.
Proper understanding of cleaning principles and safe use of cleaning chemicals will be required of this position.
Some grounds maintenance responsibilities will be part of this position, as determined by departmental needs.
This position will be responsible for operating vehicles used for daily collection of campus waste, street/parking lot sweeping, installing signs, assisting other crews (Grounds Maintenance) with special requests.
During the winter months this position is responsible for all aspects of snow removal including: shoveling, blowing snow, and removal by truck, tractor, backhoe, and skid steer etc.
This person will be responsible for minor vehicle maintenance, greasing, checking fluid levels, maintenance on tools and equipment used in the normal course of facilities maintenance responsibilities.
Ability to operate university owned vehicles with a valid driver's license.

  • Ability to operate university owned vehicles with a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications
-Cleaning experience in an industrial setting.

-Microfiber and green cleaning experience.

-Ability to work within team and individual settings.

-Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

-Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.

-Ability to attain any certifications required in some areas.

Work Schedule/Hours
6:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. Monday through Friday with the possibility of schedule changes based on departmental need. This position is subject to call back at any time: day, night, weekends, and holidays due to weather events or other emergencies.

This position is considered MANDATORY and is expected to work during University closures, emergencies and adverse weather conditions.

Employee must be able to perform the following for extended periods: climbing, bending, stooping, lifting 50 pounds or more, with or without reasonable accommodation. Equipment operation and movements required during daily duties and snow removal requires the employee to be in good general health.
