Description of primary duties and responsibilities: |
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid is charged with maintaining the university standard for providing outstanding student financial aid service and choice, who without financial assistance would not be able to attend an institution of higher learning. The Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid strives to maximize available funds and exercise good stewardship per the United States Department of Education. The continuous goals are to assist in the recruitment and retention of students, improve service to students and support long range enrollment and campus planning goals. |

Primary Purpose of the Position:
This role is crucial in supporting our mission by advising students on financial aid options, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures, and engaging in outreach activities to ensure students are aware of available resources. The University Program Specialist is expected to possess high-level competencies and a thorough understanding of all Federal Title IV, state, and institutional aid programs, as well as student aid eligibility and compliance.
This role involves completing federal verification, determining student aid eligibility, and packaging students with federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid in accordance with federal and state regulations and institutional policies. Additionally, the specialist processes appeal using professional judgment and manages one or more financial aid programs, which includes developing and maintaining policies and procedures, handling reporting and compliance, ensuring fiduciary controls, conducting regular reconciliation, and managing student information and communications associated with these programs. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: |
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Knowledge skills and abilities: |
- Knowledge of internal policy and procedures.
- Current knowledge of financial aid programs and regulations is required.
- Regulatory analysis and interpretation experience preferred.
- Experience with data processing and automated records maintenance systems preferred.
- Be self-motivated and able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to identify and solve problems.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and strong time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications: |
Scholarships & Financial Aid experience.
Knowledge of all Federal Title IV, state, and institutional aid programs, as well as student aid eligibility and compliance. |
