Position Overview


Primary Purpose of Position
The Materials Coordinator will assist users (Sunday-Thursday). The Materials Coordinator will play a critical role in collaborating with various library departments to assess, plan, and implement strategies for rightsizing and maintaining the physical collection. This individual is essential for maintaining both the physical and operational flow of the library's collections and services. This position will require a valid NC Driver's License as this position is responsible for managing the off-site storage collection. They must drive back and forth from campus to the off-campus storage unit.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
Access Services is driven to provide appropriate levels of circulation services, collection maintenance, public assistance, and materials processing. The library user is our focus and excellent service to users is the mission of all Access Services activities.
Work Hours Sunday-Thursday 1:00 pm-10:00 pm
Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. On-site (Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on-site)

Duties
Coordinates and performs tasks related to organizing and processing physical materials in relation to space maintenance and renovations; analyzes information that may influence changes in library functionality, identifies challenges, explores alternative solutions, and independently resolves a range of issues. Organizes and relocate materials in the off-site storage unit.


Required Competency Client/Patron Service
Duties
Works at the Reference and Access Service desks as scheduled; assists patrons with locating information using complex online search strategies and analysis to obtain relevant results; resolves complex, non-routine issues related to technology and facilities; patron with locating information in complex, and non-routine problems in using technology, resources and facilities and interprets and implements library policies and procedures daily.


Required Competency Planning and Organizing Work/Supervision
Duties
Supervises new and returning work-study students in access services; coordinates student work assignments and ensure students adhere to operational policies and procedures; manages student timesheets; participates in search committees for hiring student employees.
