Position Summary
Oversees the planning and implementation of varsity sporting events for the UGA Athletic Association and various SEC and NCAA Championship events hosted on campus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only a limited standardization exist.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Walk or sit for extended periods of time.

  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, and peripheral vision.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but escalates to high during practice and athletic competitions.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Manage all operations surrounding various varsity athletic events, primarily Swim/Dive, and Volleyball.

  • Manage facility operations at the Ramsey Center and Boyd Golf Center including repairs and upgrades that are needed at the facility.

  • Create event plans with athletic trainers, facility, fan engagement and sports communications personnel.

  • Delegate responsibilities to event staff during events.
  • Correspond with game officials, Southeastern Conference officials and NCAA liaisons.

  • Develop and maintain Game Expense budgets for supervised sports as well as post-season competition.
  • Create operation manuals for UGA supervised sports and tournament manuals for SEC and NCAA Championship events

  • Ensures compliance with NCAA, SEC and UGA rules and regulations pertaining to the area of Event Management.
