POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Worker

LOCATION/DEPT.: Rockford

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt

STATUS TYPE: FPT

OUTCOMES

This position will assist in various departments in order to accomplish the mission of The Salvation Army in Winnebago County.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist with building repairs as assigned, including the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical and painting.
2. Complete work orders timely as assigned by the Operations Manager.
3. Assist the Temple Custodian with grounds work, including snow removal and lawn care (off-hours work will be required as necessary).
4. Maintain all equipment.
5. Assist the Temple Custodian with Temple Corps events, including set ups and teardowns.
6. Assist with special projects as needed at county properties.
7. Complete assigned preventative maintenance work for all Tabernacle and Temple properties.
8. Assist with Anderson Gardens Ministry.
9. All other duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Operations Manager.

In contacts related to this position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of the Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or GED.

COMPETENCIES

• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Demonstrated ability with hand and power tools.
• Organizational skills that can manage projects in a constantly changing environment.
• Exhibit integrity with the ability to work with all types of people.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office experience.
• Supportive of the mission of The Salvation Army, and an appreciation of faith-based service organizations.

POSITION LIMITATIONS

• This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
• This individual will keep the Operations Manager informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
• This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This position is required to do manual labor.
• The work environment for this position is a moderate noise level.
• This position may be required to move or lift up to 50lbs.
