Position Summary

Organization: New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation

Location: 1801 Mountain Rd. NW, Albuquerque NM

An Off-Campus Work-Study Position - MUST have a Work-Study Award

JOB SUMMARY:

Primary point of contact for customers in NatureWorks, Dynatheater, and Membership Desk.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Natureworks
    * Demonstrates a welcoming customer focused
    environment by greeting customers, responding to questions, and
    improving customer engagement with merchandise
    * Provides excellent customer service
    * Uses suggested selling techniques - recommend merchandise on the floor and at the register
    * Accurately uses point of sale system
    * Balances cash drawers
    * Merchandises and displays product
    * Introduces promotions and opportunities to customers
    * Prices and distribute merchandise as directed
    * Dusts and cleans store on a regular and constant basis
    * Sell NMMNHF Memberships as needed
    * Accurately reconcile register at opening and/or closing
    * Work in a team environment to assist with other projects and tasks as needed or assigned
    * Other duties as assigned
  • Membership Desk
    * Deliver high quality customer service
    * Listens to requests and works to find the appropriate solution
    * Provide services and answer questions to current members
    * Sell memberships to potential Museum visitors
    * Inform members and visitors of current Museum events
    *
    Strives to maintain a thorough knowledge of products and services
    available at the Museum, Planetarium, DynaTheater, NatureWorks,
    Foundation, and Cafe
    * Sell admissions to members and Museum visitors
    * Sales and redemption of Foundation gift cards
    * Responsible for accurately maintaining cash drawers and balancing at the beginning and end of shift
    * Adheres to cash handling and balancing procedures
    * Answer Membership telephone and retrieve messages
    * Assist Foundation staff with upcoming events and projects
    * Processes Foundation mailings by folding and stuffing envelopes, etc.
  • Dynatheater
    * Opens the theater upon arrival each day, checks lights and equipment to ensure functionality.
    * Operates projection system equipment to project all movies, lectures, special events, etc.
    *
    Hosts concession stand: including accurate handling of cash and
    reconciling cash drawer to point of sale system, sells product, performs
    inventory counts, and recommends products to Theater Manager.
    * Vacuums, sweeps, wipes chair backs, picks up trash, and changes trash bags throughout the day as needed.
    * Distributes, collects, washes and dries 3-D glasses.
    *
    Seats guests, school groups and makes all necessary announcements
    before show starts (cell phones, emergency exits, restrooms, etc.)
    * Assists handicapped guest with entry, seating, etc.
    *
    Notifies the Theater Manager immediately of any facility problems or
    complaints, notifies security of any medical emergencies, security
    threats, etc.
    * Handles high level technical problems quickly and
    efficiently, including communicating to the audience the procedure that
    will follow. (Such as evacuating theater properly during an alarm).

Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.



Preferred Qualifications

Job Requirements:

* High School diploma

* Must exhibit outstanding customer service skills, strong communication skills, math competency, and computer literacy

* Must be able to bend, lift, squat, and climb ladders as well as stand for long periods of time

* Requires the ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and any number of specified on-call shifts
