Job Summary

Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Contracts and Grants Supervisor 1, work independently to provide proposal development and planning and post-award management for moderate to complex contracts, grants, and other accounts. Work in an independent capacity and serve as a compliance offer and resource advisor to assigned Principal Investigators (PI). Responsible for pre-award management including budget preparation/development and post-award management including effort reporting, compliance, budget forecasting and projections.

Minimum Qualifications

  • No minimum degree listed.
  • Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning to prepare complex and accurate budgets and projections.
  • Experience in the use of advanced features in spreadsheet software to create complex financial analyses, projections and other financial reports.
  • Experience writing and proofreading clear, grammatically accurate documents and emails. While ensuring University regulations, policies and guidelines are followed.
  • Knowledge and experience in research administration including review and submission of proposals for contracts and grants (Federal, State and local Sponsors), interpretation of Request for Proposals, review of submission guidelines, and preparation and review of research agreements.
  • Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organizational and communication skills; and a customer servicefocus.
  • Organizational skills to work with changing priorities and demanding workload to manage and monitor multiple accounts simultaneously and to meet multiple and variable priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed UC Davis Research Administration Certificate (RAC) Series or ability to obtain a certificate within one year from date of appointment.
  • Knowledge of fund accounting and governmental laws and regulates as related to extramural funds financial responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, cost allocation methods, and accounting policies/procedures in an academic environment.

  • 50% - Extramural Planning and Budgetary Analysis/Forecasting
  • 40% - Post Award & Other Account Management
  • 10% - Policy Compliance

Department Overview

The Phoenix Cluster is a large administrative cluster providing administrative and technical support for teaching, research and outreach to the faculty, staff, and students of Plant Pathology and Entomology & Nematology. The cluster supports 34 faculty, 97 academic titles, 247 staff, and approximately 845 combined undergraduate and graduate students annually.
