THE ROLE:

AMD's Computing and Graphics Central Engineering (CGC) team is seeking a Technical Lead / Architect with a strong focus on automation solutions to provide technical leadership, strategic vision, and architectural expertise across our automation initiatives. This role requires a dynamic, hands-on technical leader to drive the design, implementation and optimization of automation frameworks and systems that directly impact the efficiency and quality of our product delivery processes. The Technical Lead will collaborate with engineering teams across business units to deliver unified and scalable automation solutions that elevate the efficiency and capacity of the product delivery teams.

THE PERSON:

As a Technical Lead Engineer in Systems Design Engineering, you will be responsible for architecting and delivering scalable, efficient and user-friendly full stack solutions for automation. You will leverage your expertise in automation technologies, cloud platforms, and system design to define and implement strategic automation solutions that enhance engineering workflows, product quality, and operational efficiency across multiple teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Architect and implement a robust full stack solution for automated hardware and software validation
  • Ensure the solution is scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business objectives
  • Collaborate closely with engineers within and outside the team to design solutions that address complex automation challenges
  • Enhance and scale our automation solution to support diverse workloads on GPUs and CPUs
  • Lead functional design, prototyping, testing, training, and define ongoing support procedures
  • Provide expert guidance on best practices, technology selection, and deployment strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Articulate and document the solutions architecture and lessons learned for each solution delivered

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale full-stack solutions from concept to production
  • Expertise in designing robust backend systems, APIs, and databases for high-performance applications
  • In-depth knowledge of modern cloud architectures, particularly Azure
  • Prior experience with automation framework development, test infrastructure, and validation strategies
  • Experience with agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and scalable software development
  • Hands-on experience with silicon validation and power/performance analysis is a plus
  • Strong coding skills, particularly in Python.
  • Knowledge of algorithms, object-oriented and functional design principles, and code development best practices
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with source control tools (particularly Git), issue management tools (e.g., JIRA), and project management frameworks (e.g., Agile, Kanban, Scrum)
  • Must be a self-starter and capable of independently driving tasks to completion

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical or related discipline
