Role Overview:
The Origination Manager will lead customer outreach, proposal development, and contract negotiation for commercial and industrial clients across the U.S. and Canada. You will also track and communicate key industry trends, help in the development of novel offtake products, and provide critical market feedback to inform greenfield efforts, ensuring that EDPR can not only stay abreast of market trends, but also be prepared for future demand.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead initial sales outreach activity with commercial and industrial (C&I) counterparties across North America from solution/product development through the execution of term sheets.
- With support from the Senior Director, lead negotiations and execution of PPAs.
- In Non-ISO markets, work with C&I customers to develop ways to contract, understand trends and think outside of the box to structure transactions.
- Lead proposal development and competitive solicitation responses in collaboration with internal technical and commercial teams.
- Understand, track, and communicate key trends in the C&I space.
- Develop commercial products to maximize C&I deal execution.
- Identify, develop, and manage relationships with customers with whom EDPR can engage in mutually beneficial partnerships.
- For identified partner candidate companies, work collaboratively across the organization to lead the structuring of tailored partnership agreements.
- Provide customer and market feedback to the organization to inform the prioritization of project advancement across North America
- Provide commercial support on tax equity, cash equity, and M&A transactions

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or other related field
- 4-6 years' work experience in the clean energy industry
- Demonstrated expertise (1+y) in negotiating utility-scale power purchase agreements, ideally with a wide variety of utilities and/or commercial and industrial customer counterparties
- Understanding of power markets across the U.S. and Canada
- Ability to listen to client feedback and turn feedback into actionable commercial solutions
- Ability to minimize project development risks through PPA negotiations in a win-win mindset between the company and the client
- Strong organizational, networking, leadership, and time management skills
- Excellent public speaking, relationship-building, interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated understanding of financial concepts critically important to project and corporate finance
- Ability to write effective, concise reports
- Excellent customer/partner relationship skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments

Physical demands & working conditions:
- Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment.
- Walking: Ability to walk .5 to 2 miles daily, including across unpaved and rough surfaces on project sites
- Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written verbal, diagram, or scheduled form
- Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
- Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
