Job Summary

This position will be located in the new 48X outpatient surgery center complex.

Under general supervision of Perioperative Leadership, modify and maintain existing perioperative clinical information systems to ensure on-going data accuracy, support for patient care and operational management, process improvement initiatives, and appropriate integration with other institutional systems.

Gather and analyze prospective user needs for developing and implementing new modules or functionality and/or newly acquired clinical information systems. The Clinical Informatics Spec 4 documents results, presents findings, recommendations and specifications.

Work as the information technology and Electronic Medical Record content expert within perioperative services; collaborates with IT and Perioperative Services leadership to translate and implement user requirements into technical specifications and system design.

Collaborate with Perioperative Services leadership to ensure Clinical Informatics concerns are incorporated into strategic department and organizational initiatives. Works with users to define functional requirements and identify opportunities to leverage system functionality and technology.
Act as an advocate and a primary support for clinical end users. Support duties include provision and coordination of updated training processes, accurate orientation of staff to new system functions and design, and appropriate system security and access. #48XNursing

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a perioperative nurse. Experience in the management of clinical information systems.
  • Three (3) years experience working in Epic
  • Current State of California, Registered Professional Nurse license Informatics certification
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary to advise and consult with user personnel and make formal presentations of project findings and recommendations. Demonstrated ability to develop downtime procedures, familiarity with problem analysis and software configurations. High level of proficiency in ability to problem-solve, to include assessing user needs and determining appropriate systems applications or requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNOR
  • Masters in Clinical Informatics
  • 5 years of experience as a perioperative nurse Previous role as Nurse Informaticist in Perioperative Services or other applicable procedural area Epic, Optime, Cadence, or Lumens training and certification
  • Formal training in system analysis with emphasis on user relations, data gathering techniques, and management of information systems is required

Perioperative Services at UC Davis Health encompasses multiple Operating Rooms, Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Units, and Sterile Processing Departments, across the UC Davis Health Campus. Surgical care is provided across the entire life spectrum, includes a wide range of inpatient and ambulatory surgical specialties, including (but not limited to: ACS Level 1 Trauma, Bariatric, Burn, Cardiac, Colorectal, Endocrine, ENT, Gynecology, comprehensive Neurosurgery, Oncologic, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Trauma, comprehensive Orthopedic (Spine, Foot & Ankle, Hand & Hand Trauma), Otolaryngology, Pain, Plastics, Robotics, Thoracic, Transplant, Vascular, , Urology, and Uro-Gyn. Additionally, our Children's Surgery Center provides comprehensive surgical care in the full-range of surgical specialties in an age-appropriate setting.
