Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse B-Hematology/Oncology Infusion Center (Infusion Cntr) specializes in caring for patients with problems related to neoplastic diseases, such as leukemia/lymphoma, sarcoma's, neuroblastoma, brain tumors, blood disorders such as sickle cell disease, hemophilia, aplastic anemia, and blood and marrow transplantation. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide and document direct/indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient-centered care in the outpatient environment with minimal supervision. Administers complex and advanced chemotherapy, biological agents, medications, blood products, and other supportive infusion therapies for all specialty services as ordered by physicians. Performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) in accordance with Loma Linda University Children's Hospital's (LLUCHs) established Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory) to achieve individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support as needed. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and exhibits self-motivation to continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty. Functions within the expectations of a professional nurse and meets nursing excellence standards to maintain Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Represents nursing as an empowered profession and readily embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements. Provides a positive influence to facilitate change and optimize patient satisfaction and outcomes. Engages in opportunities to directly and/or indirectly influence decision-making for point-of-care clinical practice by supporting and/or participating in professional governance councils, committees, task forces and staff meetings. Exhibits interpersonal skills that portray professionalism and maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.
