Overview
We are seeking an Accounting Manager for Tax/Fixed Assets, based in Fargo, ND, to oversee all aspects of our tax and fixed asset accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with a focus on tax compliance and fixed asset management, and will be responsible for leading a team of tax staff accountants.
Responsibilities
Income Tax Management:
Team Leadership:
- Manage, train, and develop tax staff accountants
- Review the work of tax staff accountants
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of returns and completion of tasks in accordance with applicable regulations and deadlines
Sales Tax Compliance:
- Review monthly sales tax filings
- Conduct sales tax research across various states and transactions
- Maintain accurate sales tax calculations within the ERP system
Fixed Assets:
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset ledgers and supporting schedules
- Create new fixed asset records with appropriate classifications, useful life, salvage value, and depreciation methods for all book and tax ledgers
- Process fixed asset record disposals
Additional Responsibilities:
- Facilitate tax projects and manage relationships with outside tax providers
- Stay current on new tax legislation and determine appropriate courses of action
- Conduct timely research on tax issues and questions, and determine appropriate actions, including journal entries, proposing new policies and procedures, and coordinating with IT to address issues
- Monitor compliance with policies and procedures of various taxing authorities and company standards
- Facilitate tax audits and compliance matters
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- 5 + years of accounting-related work experience for a public accounting firm and/or for an SEC registrant
- Knowledge of GAAP and tax accounting principles and practices
- Ability to work with diverse people/personalities
- Ability to handle and resolve interpersonal conflict
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, stressful work environment
- Ability to respond quickly, accurately, and professionally to demands and requests from customers and employees
- Ability to travel on a limited basis and work flexible hours
