We invite applicants to join our college in a full- time, tenure-track position as Assistant/Associate Professor in Literacy Education within the Department of Teacher Preparation and Educational Studies. |
Primary Responsibilities |
Responsibilities include teaching on-campus and online undergraduate and graduate literacy education courses; supervising elementary field experiences; collaborating with colleagues to revise courses to ensure a focus on integrating reading science and promoting educational equity; engaging in scholarly activity; and serving the university, the profession, and the community. Possible areas of specialization include emergent reading/literacy, elementary assessment, bi/multilingual literacies, literacy coaching, or family/community engagement. We are looking for a dynamic faculty member eager to aid in recruitment efforts, promote literacy education, and collaborate on initiatives related to literacy teaching and learning with our school and state partners. This position is a nine-month appointment, with possible summer employment. Salary and benefits are competitive. |
Qualifications |
Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in Literacy Education or related field (ABD considered)
- At least three years of K-6 classroom teaching experience
- Understanding of evidence-based approaches to reading instruction, including an awareness of varying perspectives in the field of early literacy
- Commitment to our core values of excellence, integrity, inclusiveness, innovation and collegiality through scholarship, teaching, and/or engagement
