Life Design was initially developed for creative students. It fosters curiosity, encourages action, supports reframing of challenges, and raises process awareness. These principles help students engage more deeply with their coursework, navigate their degree plans, and explore opportunities beyond their departments and the campus. The goal is for every College of Fine Arts student to graduate with a plan for a fulfilling life, creative confidence and the ability to use their talents in many ways.

Purpose

To lead the integration of Life Design principles into Career Services within the Center of Creative Economies at the College of Fine Arts through events, course development and faculty collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Workshop Creation and Implementation: Design and facilitate workshops that introduce Life Design concepts to the College of Fine Arts student population.

  • Course Instruction: Offer a standalone Life Design course primarily for Bachelor of Arts students and students pursuing the minor in arts management and administration.

  • Coaching: Offers 1:1 coaching to students interested in applying a life design approach to their career exploration and planning.

  • Faculty Collaboration: Collaborate with central instructional designers and faculty to introduce Life Design modules in first-year courses as well as central instructional designers.

  • Staff Supervision: Responsible for supervising the Student Career Success Coordinator position. Includes setting performance goals and expectations, annual reviews, and regular check-ins. As needed, responsible for staying current with best practices for managers at the college and University as well as life cycle events (onboarding, offboarding, recruitment).

  • Data Analysis: Review data on student engagement with coaching and life design opportunities; design strategies to engage students who have not yet developed a life design plan, with particular focus on seniors.

  • Central Collaboration: Meet regularly with Career Success life design team to ensure campus-wide continuity, best practices in coaching and instructional domains and collaboration.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree and at least 3 years experience in administering or coordinating a program OR a Doctoral Degree and at least 1 year experience.

  • Demonstrated history of project management skills and organization.

  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities for successful staff management.

  • Demonstrated ability and skills with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • At least 1 year of experience teaching design thinking at the university or high school level.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year career coaching experience.

  • Experience with data management systems such as Handshake or 12Twenty.

  • Training in Designing your Life Curriculum.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provided a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$62,000+, depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Work Shift

Standard University Hours, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm with occasional nights and weekends for events.
