Sentara Cytogenetics Laboratory in Virginia Beach, VA is hiring an experienced Scientific Director to work PRN (as needed) - first shift in Cytogenetics.

Job Responsibilities:

- Provides oversight to scientific operations of Cytogenetics laboratory.

- Performs interpretive review of patient results, including generation of draft final reports.

- Collaborates with pathology and physician teams to guide patient case management.

- Provide consultation to clients of the Cytogenetics Laboratory

Job Requirements:

- Ph.D. in biological, chemical, or related scientific field.

- ABMGG board certified or eligible to sit for board certification.

- Board eligible candidates must provide supporting documentation of eligibility and complete ABMGG certification within 1 year of hire.

- Minimum of 2 years' experience working within a clinical based Cytogenetics laboratory, including review, interpretation, and generation of patient reports.

Job Summary

The PRN Scientific Director serves as needed to provide oversight and guidance to Sentara Cytogenetics laboratory through preliminary
interpretation and reporting activities in support of clinical specimen testing and research/ development projects. Lead the esoteric
laboratory's by providing expertise on techniques and applications for community physicians and employees while ensuring activities are
performed to CLIA and CAP regulations. Provides scientific guidance of subtle variations in clinical presentation of disease states including
oncology. Maintains a positive working relationship with regulatory authorities. Provides leadership for employees within departments of
responsibility.

PHD in Sciences or Doctor of Medicine required. 3 years of Laboratory or Research experience required.

Qualifications:

DLD - Doctorate Level Degree (Required) Laboratory Leadership
