Summary of Job Duties:University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock, Arkansas, the state's largest two-year college, is accepting applications for a Full-Time Ten-Month Culinary/Baking Instructor at UA-PTC Early College Program- Jacksonville High School. The Instructor is required to teach a full load, Monday- Friday, at Jacksonville High School under the direct supervision of the Department Chair and Executive Director of CAHMI at UA - Pulaski Technical College Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
*In control at all times of ordering and the maintaining of food and non-food products needed for instruction of classes.
*Maintain cleanliness of classroom, kitchen and storage areas; oversee periodic maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work areas.
*Develop and deliver course curriculums according to program and course learning objectives.
*Create detailed lesson plans and instructional materials.
*Conduct practical demonstrations and instruct students in various culinary and baking techniques.
*Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
*Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment; adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
*Facilitate communications in coordination with JNPSD for college credit and testing.
*Attend faculty development seminars for both UAPTC and JNPSD.
*Pursue appropriate certification through the American Culinary Federation, the American Hotel and Lodging Association, the Worldchefs Society or other certification bodies.
*Assist with periodic program review no less frequently than every three to five years for each academic program.
*Engage in the ongoing processes and activities necessary for evaluation and professional development of faculty.
*Assist the Department Chair and Executive Director in all ways necessary to grow and maintain the integrity of the program.
*Promote the goals of the schools (UAPTC and JNPSD) both internally and externally.
*Attend Staff meetings at JNPSD and UAPTC-CAHMI.
*Promote the mission of UA- Pulaski Technical College. Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in one or more of these areas: Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts, Hospitality Management or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certified or Certifiable in one or more of these areas: CSC or CWPC with the American Culinary Federation and/or Worldchefs Society or other certification body.
  • Four years of work experience in applicable field
  • Two years of supervisory or educational experience in the preparation of food.
  • Commitment to the mission of the comprehensive two-year college and its role in total community development.
  • Leadership and managerial abilities, including excellent organizational, computer and communications skills.
  • Understanding and commitment to equal access/equal opportunity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in a related field from a regionally-accredited institution.
  • Certified in one or more of these areas: CEC, CEPC or CCE with the American Culinary Federation or WCEC with the Worldchefs Society or other certification body.
