The Sr. Project Manager II, with oversight from Clinical Excellence, is responsible for planning, management, and execution of the Optum Partnership Program (OPP) and the Advanced Practice Excellence (APEX) program.

The OPP and APEX are programs for recognizing, rewarding, and supporting providers across Optum Health for their contributions both locally and nationally.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid talent for program planning, coordination and execution in accordance with the mission, goals and values of the organization. Key to the program manager's success is the ability to manage the input from multiple stakeholder groups to negotiate win-win outcomes. Solid communication skills across all levels are a must. Other responsibilities will include creating communication plans and assets, managing the program to meet budget targets, and developing an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Leads program planning and execution, in consultation with applicable stakeholders; leads functional teams and partners through program implementation, ensuring program goals are reached
  • Ensures alignment of program scope and objectives with the organization's strategic objectives, mission, values and goals
  • Develops and executes against detailed project plans meeting key milestones and deadlines
  • Ensures program deliverables a are identified and managed throughout each annual lifecycle
  • Develops and delivers program update communications and training to a variety of stakeholder groups, including senior leaders
  • Analyzes program outcomes, identifies areas of opportunity and makes appropriate recommendations (inclusive of all stakeholders) to improve program experience and outcomes/processes going forward (e.g., participant satisfaction, lessons learned, program team member performance)
  • Assesses and updates program content to ensure relevance to current business needs
  • Develops/contributes to program budgets and forecasts, obtaining approvals from applicable stakeholders (e.g., cost/benefit analysis, capital planning, and staffing impact analysis/assessment); manages budget and funding channels for maximum productivity
  • Utilizes appropriate communications tools/techniques to ensure understanding and buy-in from applicable stakeholders (e.g., executive summaries, key milestones, internal and external marketing and communications)
  • Ensures that all program deliverables are compliant with applicable standards and regulations
  • Manage and prioritize email communications to ensure project-related inquiries and updates are addressed promptly and efficiently
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:



  • Project management certification (PMP or equivalent)
  • 3+ years of related project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to direct various levels of staff and stakeholders
  • Proven solid process and planning skills
  • Proven solid, confident communicator with a variety of teams and levels
  • Proven solid data analysis skills
  • Proven excellent customer service skills



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Program management experience specific to managed care or care delivery environment
  • Demonstrated ability to function in ambiguity

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
