This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm in any time zone. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

You will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Pre-registering patients for procedures, surgeries, radiology, etc.
  • Generate an estimate of charges for these procedures to review with the patient at time of the pre-registration call
  • Review all demographics, contact information and pertinent information in the chart with the patient, then review insurance information and verify that within the system to make sure it is active with the carrier
  • Collect the patient's liability of payment on the service and enter into the credit card machine and the EMR
  • Close out calls
  • Utilize work queues daily
  • Communicate effectively with the team and work directly with the supervisor daily to report collections and send that report nightly at close of shift
  • The ideal person will look for opportunities to improve processes and report system issues and contribute to team huddles

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital or physician office setting
  • 1+ years of EMR experience
  • Ability to work our normal business hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm in any time zone


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 1+ years of healthcare collections experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
  • Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
  • Experience in requesting and processing financial payments


Telecommuting Requirements:



  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service


Soft Skills:



  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
