Responsibilities

Skywood Recovery Center is a residential treatment facility offering integrated treatment for addiction and mental health conditions. Skywood Recovery provides individual and group therapy, experiential therapy, equine and art therapy, and yoga. Located in Augusta, MI, a convenient drive from Kalamazoo and Lansing, MI, the campus offers a restorative environment with opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.


Qualifications

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for the administration and/or monitoring of non-narcotic patient medications in the residential setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer non-narcotic medication to patients in the residential setting.
  • Tracks medication administration and effectiveness via the medication administration record.
  • Monitors medication use and reorders appropriately to ensure medication availability for distribution.
  • Assists with collection of all daily weight, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, and chronic and acute pain level.
  • Follows the direction of the staff nurse as delegated.
  • Inputs preliminary and final results into the medical records database and completes chart audits.
  • Monitor compliance of the staff TB testing program.
  • Complete TB tests. Ensure that evaluation is completed within 48-72 hour time frame.
  • Meets timeliness expectations of completing work as scheduled, demonstrating self-paced performance and adjusting priorities as needed.
  • Cross-trains and supports other areas of the nursing department as needed or requested by supervisor.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to inspire client confidence in the FRN Staff and the FRN Model of Treatment.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate through conduct and communications the stability required to effectively assist patients and their family members through the FRN Model of Treatment.

* Ability to build relationships with diverse individuals and groups.

* Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

* Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to multi-task in an efficient manner.

* Must have general knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.

* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.

* Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues and the ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into the organization.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program. Certified or Registered preferred.
  • Current CPR/First Aid required.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a medical assistant role in a healthcare facility.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

* Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during work hours.

* Ability to be physically mobile by walking, climb stairs, traverse the campus on uneven hilly terrain.

* Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 40 pounds.

* Position requires some work on the computer requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.

* Ability to read, write and analyze detailed and complex information.

* A current, valid driver's license and a clean driving record is required for use of company vehicles and occasional business travel.

* Due to the 24/7 operational demands, must be available after normal working hours and on holidays to manage emergencies that may arise.

* Must be available to work every other weekend.
