Zayo is seeking a Director of Field Operations to oversee two Field Operations Managers as well as directly supervise the daily activities of a number of Field Operations technicians in their respective region. The Director of Field Operations sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion and coordinates work activities with other directors and managers. This position reports to the Head of Field Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the teams' objectives and reports on their performance as it relates to established performance goals (MTTR, Revenue, OTP).

  • Hire, retain, and develop a team of Field Operations Managers (2).

  • Hire, retain, and develop a team of Field Technicians (16).

  • Develop training and mentoring programs for new and existing team members.

  • Work with internal organizations and 3rd parties to ensure maintenance, break-fix, and turn-up activities are resolved consistently to the service levels expected by our customers; both internal and external.

  • Work with internal teams to create, streamline, and document workflow.

  • Monitor costs to ensure incurred costs are in line with the forecasted budget.

  • Create, monitor, and report on the forecasted budget for the assigned region.

  • Responsible for inventory forecasting and tracking of the assigned region.

  • Administer Zayo fleet program in partnership with Fleet Manager for the assigned region.

  • Establish a disaster recovery plan for the assigned region.

  • Contribute to the ongoing expansion of Workforce Management as a way to increase Field Operations efficiencies. This includes the WFM team members as well as any systems and process development - Salesforce or otherwise.

  • Establish and publish 24/7 on-call/after hours coverage schedule.

  • Work closely with remote support team to identify isolate and repair network and customer impairments.

  • Operate a company vehicle in accordance with safe driving practices and will ensure routine maintenance is performed on the vehicle per defined schedule. Conduct a daily inspection of vehicle to ensure its safe operating condition.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in management, or other related field is required with 10 (ten) years of related experience, and five (5) years of managerial experience.

  • OR a High school diploma/GED with fifteen (15) years of direct related experience plus five (5) years of experience in a leadership or managerial capacity.

  • Experience managing Telecom field technicians that engage in installing, testing or turning up equipment such as SONET, TDM, DWDM, IP, or Ethernet based equipment required.

  • An understanding of telecommunications standards (i.e. ITU, IEEE, NEBS)

  • Strong technical, mechanical and electrical background and be familiar with major manufacturers of telecom transport & IP equipment, DC power plants as well as knowledge of critical infrastructure, ISP/OSP and all associated test systems to include optical, electrical and power testing equipment associated with the telecommunications Industry.

  • Ability to pass MVR check and be able to maintain eligibility to operate a company issued vehicle per our policy (no more than 2 moving violations within the past 3 years); this includes possession of a state-issued driver's license for the state in which you live.

  • Comfort in presenting data and financials to team and various other departments

  • Strong communication skills

Base Salary Range: $125,000 - $178,600 USD/annually, commensurate with experience.
