POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Associate Director for Specialty Services, this person will lead, support and manage all accreditation for specialty and infusion services. The Pharmacy Coordinator of Accreditation will oversee all operational and quality efforts related to accreditation for all BMC Outpatient Pharmacies and support ongoing efforts thereafter. The position will work to implement new pharmacy services and expand/enhance existing services while maintaining compliance to local, state and federal regulatory requirements as well as relevant to accreditation.

Coordinator functions in the development of enhanced specialty pharmacy services. Ensuring that the operational and clinical aspects of the respective specialty and infusion practice areas are in compliance with department policies and procedures, department mission and value statements and hospital core beliefs for the purpose of maximizing service and quality. In addition, this person will chair the quality management committee and be responsible for reporting patient quality outcomes to hospital leaders.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

This position is responsible for the following to accreditation body standards (URAC, ACHC and any other accrediting body relevant to the service lines of specialty and infusion):


  • Operational workflows meet standards
  • Development and maintenance of clinical program for all patients enrolled within the program
  • Quality metrics including all contractual performance guarantees
  • Policies and procedures related to specialty and infusion services


  • ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:



    • Provide a professional and confidential environment for patients at all times.
    • In all activities comply with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements, including DEMPOS (billing, dispensing and training).
    • Provides in-service education to pharmacy staff, students, nurses, physicians and other healthcare practitioners, as needed.
    • Attends and participates in department staff development conferences or other activities related to staff development.
    • Develops and manages clinical programs and initiatives related to pharmacy accreditation and contracting requirements.
    • Develops competencies as related to position.
    • Maintains own professional and specialized competency through continued education: attendance of at least one regional or national meeting per year.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION:

    BS in pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college of pharmacy required.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

    Work requires licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of Massachusetts by the hire date.

    EXPERIENCE:



    • Requires two to three years relevant experience
    • QS1 experience preferred
    • Salesforce Healthcloud experience preferred
    • Specialty pharmacy experience preferred



    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:



    • Work requires a comprehensive understanding of the procedures, systems, and equipment used by pharmacists and technicians in the pharmacy as well as a high level of proficiency in performing pharmacist's duties and responsibilities.
    • Work requires a high level of analytical ability, organizational and personal management skill and focus to ensure the concerted approach to operations.
    • Practice experience working with as well as revising and/or implementing information systems.
    • Excellent interpersonal and telephone communication skills.
    • Professional in conduct and demeanor.
    • Proficient with standard software used in healthcare office setting (i.e. MS Word, Excel, web browser, etc)
    • Knowledge and understanding of the federal funded 340B program highly preferred.
    • QS1 experience preferred.
    • Experience with Specialty medications preferred.
    • Immunization experience preferred.
