Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Business Intelligence Analyst II

The Center for Cancer Care Innovation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center designs, tests, and implements novel methods that improve cancer care delivery. Our Embedded Analyst team is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to partner with CCCI leadership, helping them improve quality of life, patient and family experience, costs and efficiency of care, and the work life of healthcare providers!

Role Overview:

    Perform in-depth data analysis and reporting to support the CCCI leadership in designing, test, and implementing innovative cancer care delivery models.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into a structured set of questions that can be answered analytically, and effectively communicate findings with your clinical partners.
  • Work with end-users to gather and understand reporting/data requirements, identifying and integrating external benchmarks and data sources where applicable.
  • Collaborate with clinical stakeholders and data analysts to drive meaningful improvements in cancer care delivery.

Sample Projects

  • Analyze the efficacy of projects designed to reduce inpatient utilization by avoiding hospitalization, reducing length of stay, or by reducing readmissions.
  • Test out new approaches for pragmatic identification of eligible patients for CCCI programs, and assess the feasibility of collecting clinical outcomes.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop tools to rank the appropriateness of potential patients for different CCCI interventions, and build consensus around these definitions.
  • Develop metrics that further our ability to ensure our patients receive Goal Concordant Care, including at End of Life.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience using analytics and data science to impact key business decisions
  • Proficiency using R (preferred) or Python to create reproducible data analyses
  • Comfortable working in relational database and SQL
  • The ability to develop production grade dashboards using Shiny, Tableau, Power BI etc.
  • Experience working with Health Outcomes data is beneficial

Core Skills:

  • The ability to choose the right technical approach for a question (from a statistical model to a dashboard and everything in between) and know that the simplest solution is often the best
  • A self-motivated, curious mindset with a passion for enhancing patient and staff experiences at MSK
  • Comfortable sharing findings with clinical teams and create actionable data strategies.

Additional Information:

  • Schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST, Monday - Friday
  • Location: Hybrid, 2 days a week in NYC
  • Reporting to: Associate Director, Analytics
  • Pay Range: $120,200.00-$192,300.00
