Job Description

EBAD seeks an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across various manufacturing site facilities. The EHS Specialist will be crucial in promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and environmental stewardship within our organization. This role reports to the Manager, Safety & Facilities in Simsbury, CT.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance of regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, EPA, DoD, DHS, CTDEEP, etc.), including company EHS policies and procedures.
  • Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide collaborative support with factory stakeholders to ensure production & operational changes mitigate risks to health, safety and the environment.
  • Perform facility EHS audits and inspections to document findings and track corrective actions to closure and prepare applicable EHS regulatory-required reports, as necessary.
  • Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Environmental, Health & Safety management.
  • Maintain relevant EHS logs and documentation.
  • Oversee Hazardous Waste SQG Program to ensure regulatory agency compliance i.e. labeling, containment, inspecting, proper disposal, documentation, etc.
  • Assist in administering and maintaining all Safety compliance programs such as Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Emergency Planning, Fall Protection, Fire Prevention, Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Hoists, Hot Work, Industrial Hygiene, LOTO, Machine Guarding, PIT, PPE, PSM, Respiratory Protection , etc., ,.
  • Assist in administering and maintaining Environmental compliance programs such as air compliance, SPCC, stormwater, & wastewater programs.
  • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant EHS training and certification programs. Lead weekly new hire orientation safety training.
  • Support with the analysis of incident trends and use risk assessments to identify and lead continuous improvement projects to minimize injury, illness, and environmental impact.
  • Provide proactive support to safety & ergonomic programs
  • Observe EHS regulations, wear all required safety equipment, encourage safe working practices, correct obvious hazards immediately or report them to the proper personnel.
  • Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Comply with all Company and EHS procedures and policies.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as an EHS professional ideally in manufacturing, construction or oil and gas; thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DoD, DSS, DHS and other Federal, State, and local regulations with respect to Safety, Health, & Environment.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health or related field
  • Specific experience in hazardous waste management or other professional EHS training is a plus including HAZWOPER, RCRA, and DOT certifications.
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner to outside agencies, customers, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated initiative in proactively identifying future potential safety risks and suggesting or implementing appropriate countermeasures.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate a workforce and train in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a security clearance.
