Head of New Business Development & Greenfield

What You Can Expect

As the Head of New Business Development & Greenfield, you will report to Chief Development Officer and ensure the company's regional utility-scale projects are planned, sited, permitted, and prepared for construction in a manner that meets the performance requirements, schedule, and budget objectives established at the project's investment approval. You will also be responsible for establishing and working with the Business Development Group to develop advanced business strategies, market intelligence, power marketing & competition box out strategies.

You will guide and manage a team to utilize the proper technical support, procurement resources, commercial insights, procedures, consultants, and software to support multi-discipline project teams in order enhance overall business unit planning, Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) forecasting, and quality of project delivery.

You should be able to act with the highest professionalism, exercise independent judgment and decision-making, while weighing the interests of multiple stakeholders.




  • Provide leadership in defining market entry strategies by region, technology and buy vs build to ensure long-term greenfield pipeline growth
  • Provide leadership to staff in the preparation of project capital estimates for both Business Development and Greenfield annual budget and mid-term planning process (PAMT) using latest project estimates, contractual obligations, and operating projections
  • Report to Executive Management on all projects at regular intervals to inform management on issues and seek their counsel as required
  • As necessary, report to outside stakeholders (lenders, equity partners) on projects at intervals no less than what is required contractually
  • Provide leadership, guidance and complete personnel management in order to ensure assigned staff performs appropriately and successfully achieves company goals and objectives
  • Manage development activities of utility-scale solar, wind and battery storage energy projects from feasibility to early stage development
  • Coordinate market intel, technical and commercial constraints, transmission interconnection, land acquisition, and competitive intelligence with corporate strategy, to support long-term business planning
  • Development of tools and practices to improve the efficiency and budget effectiveness of new business development practices.
  • Ensure projects are progressing on schedule and within budget
  • Conduct site visits to define site characteristics and develop relationships with local stakeholders
  • Represent company in industry advocacy groups
  • Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of solar and renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers
  • Represent ENGIE at national renewable energy events as speaker, panelist as needed
  • Carry out other duties as assigned



What You'll Bring



  • Bachelor's degree in which you completed courses in Business, Engineering, or Public Planning
  • A minimum of 10 years of power development or comparable experience
  • Intimate knowledge of the energy, and if possible renewable energy market, and the ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends influencing the continued adoption of renewable energy
  • Competitive Analysis
  • Existing professional relationships with local utility representatives, developers, government representatives and others
  • Commercial mindset, strong prioritization, communication and organizational skills
  • Counter Party Management: Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Negotiations, Merger & Acquisition (M&A), Partnership Formation
  • Demonstrated capability in Financial Valuation: Market analysis, Corporate approvals, Competitive Analysis
  • Proven record of accomplishment in renewable energy development, including experience taking projects through financing
  • Thorough understanding of land easements/leases and title curative requirements



Additional Details



  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 50% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies;



Compensation

Salary Range: $166,900 - $255,070 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
